Terms of Use

Effective August 3, 2026

Important: Dipstick Alerts is an informational research service, not a diagnostic, repair, warranty, legal, or emergency-safety service. The linked manufacturer or NHTSA source controls.

Using the service

You may use Dipstick Alerts to search public records and request recurring email alerts for selected vehicle profiles. You must provide information you are authorized to use and may not abuse, disrupt, scrape at unreasonable volume, reverse engineer access controls, or use the service to send unwanted email to another person.

Vehicle and safety limitations

Matches are based on year, make, and model—not VIN, trim, engine, build date, installed equipment, or repair history. A match does not prove that a record applies to your individual vehicle. For safety recalls, check your VIN at NHTSA.gov/recalls and follow instructions from NHTSA, the manufacturer, and a qualified repair professional. Do not delay an inspection, repair, or emergency response because of this service.

Automated content

Some bulletin classifications, summaries, and suggested next steps are generated with automated tools and may be incomplete or wrong. They are provided to help you navigate the source, not replace it. Always review the linked source document.

Email alerts

By subscribing and verifying your address, you request the recurring alert types you selected for that vehicle. New subscriptions monitor records added after signup and do not send the historical results already shown on the site. Scanning, processing, review, provider delays, and source limitations mean alerts may not be complete or immediate. You may remove selected alerts or unsubscribe from all alerts at any time using any recurring email.

Sources, ownership, and affiliation

Dipstick Alerts is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by NHTSA, the U.S. Department of Transportation, or any vehicle manufacturer. Manufacturer names and trademarks belong to their respective owners and are used descriptively. Source records remain subject to their applicable rights and terms.

No warranties

To the extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of accuracy, completeness, timeliness, applicability, availability, email delivery, repair coverage, or fitness for a particular purpose. We may change, limit, or discontinue the service.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Dipstick Alerts and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of or reliance on the service. These terms do not limit liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for fraud, gross negligence, or other non-waivable rights.

Governing law

These terms are governed by Michigan law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any permitted court proceeding will be brought in a court with jurisdiction in Michigan. Consumer rights that cannot be waived remain unaffected.

Age, changes, and contact

You must be at least 13 to use the service. We may update these terms by posting a new effective date and, when appropriate, notifying active subscribers. Questions, accessibility feedback, copyright concerns, and takedown requests may be sent to hello@dipstickalerts.com.
